With a corporate culture that promotes volunteerism, the Trail Blazers employee volunteer program provides staff many opportunities to support hundreds of local non-profi ts each year, impacting the lives of more than 20,000 individuals and families each year. Employ ees are also given time off to volunteer for education and mentorship programs. The Trail Blazers received the National Points of Light Award for Excellence in Corporate Community Service for the team’s volunteer and community service efforts. The team was the fi st and continues to be the only professional sports team to achieve this honor.

The Portland Trail Blazers and Hands on Greater Portland have partnered over the past fi e years to host the “Trail Blazers Heart of the Community Awards,” an annual Valentine’s Day luncheon that honors exemplary volunteers and organizations that have demonstrated a strong dedication to and advocacy for volunteerism.
