Chicago Bulls, Bulls/Sox Academy offer youth summer camps throughout Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana
March 21, 2013, LISLE, IL. – The Bulls/Sox Academy announced today that the official youth summer camps of the Chicago Bulls are coming to over sixty communities this summer throughout the Chicagoland area. Programs are available for boys and girls from age five to twelve at every ability level. These camps are designed to improve the fundamentals of all athletes while having fun at the same time.
This year marks the 15th Anniversary of the Chicago Bulls Summer Camps. Since its inception, the Chicago Bulls summer camps have reached over 25,000 children throughout the community. Professional instructors work with campers on ball handling, passing, shooting, rebounding, footwork and team concepts. The “Rookies” session is geared toward teaching the basic fundamentals of basketball for young players just learning the game. The “Veterans” session focuses on advancing essential skills of basketball for the more experienced or travel players.
“The Chicago Bulls summer camps have brought quality, top-level basketball instruction to the kids in Chicago and the suburbs for 15 years,” said Michael Reinsdorf, President and COO of the Chicago Bulls. “The Bulls family prides itself on being able to teach all young athletes within our community the proper way to play the game we all love. Our camps also focus on life lessons, such as sportsmanship, respect, leadership, and perseverance in a way we hope will resonate with kids.”
The Bulls/Sox Academy has created a unique experience for all of its summer camp participants. Each basketball camp participant, along with one guest, will be invited to the United Center for a Q&A session with a Bulls' personality and a current and/or former Bulls player. “We are proud to offer this exclusive experience to all of our camp participants. Beyond working on their game, these young athletes have a rare opportunity to visit the United Center and meet Chicago Bulls personalities,” said Xan Pearson, Bulls/Sox Academy Vice President of Marketing. “The professional instruction and the opportunity to engage with a pro athlete set us apart from other summer camp programs.”
Each camper will also receive a Bulls Basketball Schools duffel bag, Chicago Bulls indoor/outdoor basketball, 15th Anniversary summer camp t-shirt, graduation certificate and four White Sox ticket vouchers to attend a 2013 home game. All athletes will receive a skills evaluation report and compete in the Bulls Skills Competition, with the top thirty overall qualifiers in each age group competing in Champions Day at the United Center in the fall.
The Bulls/Sox Academy also offers baseball, fastpitch softball, and combination camps for the two-sport athlete. The locations of all the Chicago White Sox and Chicago Bulls summer camps are listed on the Bulls/Sox Academy website.
