2012-13 Luvabulls: Meet Krystal
What does being a member of the Luvabulls mean to you?
Being a member of the Luvabulls means being fortunate enough to do what I love – dance and perform! Performing is in my blood, and dancing on this level has given me the opportunity to keep up with that passion, while being surrounded with truly amazing, well-rounded women I am proud to call my friends. In my 6th year on the squad, I look back and think about how it has shaped me into the person I am today. I love the city of Chicago, and being involved with the Chicago Bulls is the icing on the cake!
How has your dancing experience led you to this point?
I’ll admit that dancing sort of found me. While I was a cheerleader in high school, I was always more involved with music and musical theatre throughout my life and through college. After I finished my undergrad, I moved to Chicago with high hopes to continue performing in some capacity. I was introduced to professional dance as a member of the Chicago Shamrox Dance Team, a professional lacrosse team. Immediately I was hooked! I decided to aim my sights high and audition for the Chicago Luvabulls, and here I am 6 years later and still love every second of it.
What is your claim to fame—besides being a Luvabull?
I love music and singing! I also recently started a few creative ventures in interior decorating, blogging, and event planning, which has always been a passion of mine and I love to share.
What do you do for a living?
I work as a Marketing and Communications Coordinator for a global company where I work on executing internal communication plans and marketing events. It involves being creative, organized, and thinking outside of the box – all things I love!
Describe the feeling of performing at a Bulls playoff game.
Performing at a Bulls playoff game can be summed up in one word – unreal! The kind of heart pounding excitement and energy the city of Chicago gives off is truly inspiring, and reminds me that I am part of a world famous NBA team that has the best fans in the league! I’ll never forget being inside the United Center and the deafening sound of the cheers and thunderous applause during a big play in the 4th quarter. When someone asks me 10 years from now, remember that Bulls playoff series? I can say – you bet I do! I had a courtside seat and was part of all the action!
What people do you admire the most and how have they supported or inspired you as a dancer?
I have a great admiration for my entire family, especially my parents, who are always proud of my accomplishments and support me in all of my ventures!
What is your proudest accomplishment to date and where do you see yourself in 10 years?
Being a part of the Luvabulls for the past 6 years is an obvious choice for me and certainly my proudest accomplishment to date. In 10 years I would hope that I am married with a happy family, a creative career, and performing is somehow still involved in my life.
