Bulls in the preseason

The Bulls (1-0) continue preseason play with the second of seven preseason games against Cleveland in Champaign, Ill. Chicago is 190-174 (.522) all-time in preseason play. The Bulls have won five straight preseason games with the most recent defeat coming on 10/16/10 at ORL.

Last year, Chicago posted a 2-0 record, which marked the sixth consecutive year the team finished the preseason with a record of .500 or better. The last time that happened in preseason play was in 1996-97, when the team ran off 10 straight preseason circuits with a record of .500 or better. Chicago has gone undefeated three times in the preseason, first in 1989-90 (8-0), 1992-93 (9-0) and 2011-12 (2-0).

Off and running

The Bulls scored 32 fast break points in their 92-88 victory over Memphis on Tuesday, a total surpassed only twice by the Bulls during the 2011-12 regular season. Chicago notched 33 fast break points twice in the first five games of 2011-12 (at SAC on 12/29/11, vs. MEM on 1/01/12), but did not score 30-or-more fast break points in any of the final 61 games of the season. Of the Bulls’ 32 fast break points against the Grizzlies, 12 came during a 21-2 run to open the second half that turned a 52-49 halftime deficit into a 70-54 lead less than halfway into the third quarter.

On the air

Every Bulls preseason contest will be televised this year. Comcast SportsNet will broadcast six games (Oct. 9 vs. Memphis, Oct. 12 vs. Cleveland, Oct. 16 vs. Milwaukee, Oct. 19 vs. Minnesota, Oct. 23 vs. Oklahoma City and Oct. 26 vs. Indiana), WGN America will televise one game (Oct. 13 at Minnesota).

ESPN 1000 AM, the flagship radio station of the Chicago Bulls, will air two preseason games (Oct. 23 vs. Oklahoma City and Oct. 26 vs. Indiana). WRTO-AM, Chicago’s Spanish radio partner, will air four home preseason games (Oct. 9 vs. Memphis, Oct. 16 vs. Milwaukee, Oct. 19 vs. Minnesota and Oct. 23 vs. Oklahoma City).
