Basketball Without Borders Africa


Basketball Without Borders Africa will take place from September 6-10 in Johannesburg, South Africa. The camp will bring together the top 100 young players from more than 20 African countries for basketball instructions from NBA players,coaches and scouts, as well as educational seminars addressing important social issues such as HIV/AIDS prevention and education.

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 9: A SPECIAL VISIT

An NBA contigent including Bob Lanier, Dikembe Mutombo, Shawn Bradley, Zach Randolph, Malik Rose paid a visit to Nelson Mandela at his foundation. "For us to get a chance to come in here and see him and touch him and say thank you, is overwhelming," said Bob Lanier. Dikembe Mutombo expressed his appreciation as well. "I was very thiriled by this visit," Mutombo said. "We don't know when we will get that chance again in our lifetime."

At the Soweto Kliptown Youth (SKY) Trust, NBA players watched as children of the SKY Trust put on an emotional performance for their famous guests.

Mutombo dorms to be dedicated
On September 9, Dikembe Mutombo will dedicate dormitories at Ithuteng Trust, a school for troubled and underprivileged youth in South Africa.
