"AKRON — Turns out there will be a LeBron James party after all — and 30,000 free tickets to it were gobbled up in hours Monday.

The city of Akron and the LeBron James Family Foundation will hold a Welcome Home LeBron Community Rally on Aug. 8 at the University of Akron’s InfoCision Stadium.

In a July 11 essay as told to Sports Illustrated’s Lee Jenkins that announced the 29-year-old James was signing with the Cavaliers, the four-time league MVP said, “I’m not having a press conference or a party. After this, it’s time to get to work.”

The community rally will be held from 7:15-9 p.m. Doors will open at 6:15. Tickets were free, with some fans waiting more than an hour on Ticketmaster to get them in blocks of six. They became available at 10 a.m. Monday and were gone by early afternoon." - CLICK HERE to read full story.

Team USA Report: Kyrie sports LeBron's No. 23

"Random stuff after the first day of Team USA training camp Monday at UNLV:

1. Kyrie Irving has been No. 23 in international competition before, and LeBron James wore No. 6 with Team USA. But now, James wears No. 23 (again) for the Cavaliers, and is a teammate of Irving's in Cleveland. So when a picture showed up on the Internet of Irving wearing a No. 23 practice jersey, fans wondered if it was in honor of James. For the record, it was not.

2. But hey, with the likes of LeBron, Kyrie and others, it's suddenly a great time to be a Cavs fan, and the image of Irving sporting James' Cavs number likely gave those fans yet another reason to smile -- coincidence or not." - CLICK HERE to read full story.

"Dion Waiters is entering his third NBA season, and he has been regularly effective off the bench. But Waiters is making it clear that he strongly prefers to play another role.

"I want to start and I believe that I should at the two," Waiters said in an interview with CSNNW.com NBA writer Chris Haynes on Monday.

Waiters was speaking after taking part in the first day of Team USA training camp in Las Vegas. He is a member of the U.S. Select Team, which is helping Team USA prepare for its upcoming competition in the 2014 FIBA World Cup in Spain. Waiters will not play for the U.S. in the World Cup." - CLICK HERE to read full story.
