Gametime: Grizzlies vs. Pistons - 11/30/12
Grizzlies vs. Pistons
November 30, 2012
The Detroit Pistons are one of the youngest teams in the East, with six of the 10 rotation players having three years of NBA experience or less. The Pistons also added six new additions to their roster this offseason, including Corey Maggette from the Charlotte Bobcats and drafted Andre Drummond (Connecticut), Khris Middleton (Texas A&M) and Kim English (University of Missouri) in the 2012 NBA Draft. Kyle Singler, the 33rd overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft, also returns to the Pistons roster after spending the past season playing overseas in Spain. Greg Monroe enters his third season with Detroit and Brandon Knight enters just his second season as the Pistons starting point guard. The Grizzlies hold a five game winning streak against Detroit, with the team’s last loss coming on Oct. 28, 2009 at FedExForum.
Key Matchup: Rudy Gay vs. Tayshaun Prince
Entering his seventh season in Memphis, Rudy Gay continues to lead the team in scoring, averaging 20.1 points per game. Gay has led the team in scoring in three of his past six seasons with the Grizzlies. Tayshaun Prince is one of only seven active players in the NBA who have spent 10-plus consecutive seasons with one team. Prince, the 23rd overall pick in the 2002 NBA Draft by the Pistons, has played 78-plus games in seven of his 10 seasons. The game could be decided by the two veteran forwards and their leadership on the court.
