Key Run of the Night
Cold shooting and a rough fourth quarter doomed the Grizzlies in a 91-83 home loss to the Hornets. Zach Randolph posted a strong line of 20 points and 13 rebounds, but Memphis could not overcome a 36 percent shooting effort and an early ankle sprain to guard Mike Conley.

On Hornet’s length
"They were long. The offensive rebounds, they had 14 of them because of their length. Then the two big guys started hitting threes. They did a job inside by blocking shots [and] keeping us off balance with playing zone and man-to-man. We just didn’t push the ball up the floor. We got into their pace. We played slower. We scored 83 points. We shot 36 percent, and they were 9-for-20 for threes. That was a huge difference."
On Rudy Gay
"Just taking too many jump shots, we got to attack the basket. Wasn’t just him but in that first quarter when he had the chance, we just took a lot of jump shots. Took a lot of jump shots and we stopped making them. Then it became a difficult night for us."
On Zach Randolph
He was struggling, defensively. I mean we needed to get some stops and I started playing offense [to] defense at the end, but I did play Z-Bo. Z-Bo played 34 minutes. Sometimes you got to make some decisions, but we gave up a couple of offensive rebounds and then the kid made a couple of shots on them. So I was trying to go smaller and see if we could close the gap with that group, and we didn’t do it either. So we didn’t do anything defensively to warrant us getting back into the game and have a chance to win. We were down 72-73, and they got a three point play so it goes up to 75-72 and then we never got it. Then it went right quick to 78-81 and we never got back into it."
On Mike Conley
"He will probably play tomorrow night but there’s no real word."
