Paul Millsap Brings an Early Thanksgiving Dinner to Families at Ronald McDonald House

Salt Lake City, UT (November 20, 2012) - This holiday season, families needing the “home away from home” services of the Ronald McDonald House because of a critically ill child receiving pediatric medical care at a Salt Lake City hospital were treated to an early Thanksgiving feast, and a chance to meet Utah Jazz forward Paul Millsap. Millsap presented a Thanksgiving meal of turkey, sides, rolls and dessert along with a $10,000 check as he renews his partnership with Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Intermountain Area and adopts a room at the Salt Lake City house.

Three years ago, Millsap chose the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Intermountain Area as his charity of choice and sponsors a guest room at the charities main house. At tonight’s dinner, the Utah Jazz player presented a personal contribution to re-up his sponsorship of the guest room. The Utah Jazz player says it’s rewarding to be able to give back to his community, especially during the holidays when the focus of most Americans is creating memories with family.

Millsap also arranged for Kidz 4 Bricks to provide a car racing activity, Lego and other activities for the families. Kidz 4 Bricks is an afterschool program designed to help children play and socialize with friends while learning fundamentals of engineering and architecture in a noncompetitive setting. The program builds problem-solving skills, and helps students understand that Architecture and Engineering are viable career choices.

“This support by Paul Millsap and his family make a tremendous difference for Ronald McDonald House Charities. We depend upon charitable donations and volunteer support from many individuals, corporations and foundations for our continued existence. We are grateful for this festive activity and support during the holiday season,” said Carrie Romano, executive director of RMHC of the Intermountain Area.

Adopting a meal at the Ronald McDonald House is just one way of many ways the community can get involved with the Ronald McDonald House. A calendar to reserve a meal day and additional volunteer opportunities are detailed on the charity’s website at
