East Rutherford—The New Jersey Nets will open their 2008-09 campaign abroad, as they will tip off their seven game preseason schedule against the Miami Heat in Paris and London as part of NBA Europe Live presented by EA SPORTS™, Nets President Rod Thorn announced today.  Upon returning to the United States, the Nets will resume their preseason schedule as part of “Before the Buzzer presented by Barclays,” with five games against three of their Atlantic Division rivals.  

“We are very excited to represent the NBA in Paris and London,” said Thorn. “These two contests present a unique opportunity for our players and coaches, and we look forward to the experience.”

The Nets games against Miami in Paris on Thursday, October 9, and in London on Sunday, October 12 will mark the team’s first games outside of the United States or Canada since they played a preseason contest against Golden State in Mexico City prior to the start of the 1999-2000 season.

When the Nets return to New Jersey for their first home preseason game, they will entertain the NBA Champion Boston Celtics at the IZOD Center on Thursday, October 16.  The Nets will also host their cross-river rival New York Knicks on Monday, October 20 and the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday, October 22.  All three games will tip off at 7:30 PM.

The Nets will get a second look at the Celtics when they travel to Boston for a Sunday, October 19 contest before closing out their preseason schedule with a trip to Madison Square Garden for a game against the Knicks on Friday, October 24.
